Respite offers individuals a break from their daily routine and family members relief from the continous care required.
Respite Services
Respite services are available for individuals with developmental disabilities who are over three years of age.
Hope Haven offers respite services in two fashions, a respite home and a voucher system.
The off-site, four-bedroom respite home operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Three beds are available on a reservation basis, with one reserved for emergency situations.
Reservations may be scheduled at any time up to six months in advance, contingent upon available space.
In order to maximize the number of individuals who use the respite home, individuals are limited to 30 days of respite care per year. Additional requests for emergency situations are considered separately.
Highly trained and qualified individuals staff Hope Haven's respite home. Each staff member has completed CPR and First Aid certification as well as other relevant training such as defensive driving and medication training.
Voucher System
The respite voucher system provides reimbursement for respite care expenses incurred by families who pay for respite care outside of Hope Haven's respite home. It is the family's responsibility to locate and arrange private care. Payments for this type of care can be made only as a reimbursement. Specific documents must be completed and provided prior to respite care in order to facilitate respite admission requirements and procedures.

Location
Hope Haven's respite home is located at 1160 Whit Davis Road. Traveling south on Cedar Shoals Drive from Gaines School Road, turn right at the stop sign on Whit Davis Road. Take the first right and follow to the end of the cul-de-sac.
The facility is located within walking distance to Athens Transit System routes. Those eligible for the lift service may also make arrangements for that transportation as well.
Scheduling
Please call Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Emergencies
Evenings and weekends, respite home staff will contact respite administrative staff for emergencies.
